- 생산자인 윤석현이 초등학교(당시 국민학교) 1학년부터 6학년까지 재학 중 작성한 일기장이다.
- 1권부터 14권까지는 1~2학년 때 작성한 그림일기이며, 15권부터 40권까지는 3~6학년 때 작성한 일반 일기로, 하루에 1면씩 작성하였다.
- 생산자는 6학년 1학기까지 충남 '대천국민학교'를 다녔으며, 6학년 2학기부터 서울 '방일국민학교'를 다녔다.
- 가족, 교우관계, 학교생활 등 일상사를 일기에 고스란히 담아내었다.
